Government Official Confirms Ministry of Defence Examining Potential Threat from Vehicles from China, as Personnel Told to Avoid Secret Talk in Vehicles.

An defense official has stated that the Ministry of Defence is actively looking into the potential threats associated with Chinese-made vehicles, and personnel have been instructed to avoid discussing secret information in all cars.

Security Advice for Defence Staff

In a recent interview on a radio station, Luke Pollard addressed reports that Ministry of Defence staff have been instructed not to discuss classified material while travelling in China-made cars.

He stated that the ministry is “examining” cars from China within its fleets, but noted that security is a issue in every modern cars.

Our department has a fleet of thousands of cars in the MoD and Chinese ones account for a tiny fraction.
But regardless of if you’re driving a Chinese car or a non-Chinese car, what we’ve asked our people is not to plug MoD devices into their vehicle, to avoid having conversations at a secret level in any kind of vehicle, due to the growing risks of eavesdropping that exist in every single automobile, to only have those secret talks in secure locations. This is a prudent and sensible thing for everyone worried about security.

When it was suggested that it would be wise for the ministry to cease using all cars from China, Pollard replied: ‘That’s exactly what we are looking into at the present time.”

Wider Security Context

This revelation follows claims from Scandinavian countries have alerted the United Kingdom to the existence of multi-purpose shutdown mechanisms in Chinese-made buses, which could enable the Chinese government to disable public transport and bring chaos to public transit.

Additionally, a Russia intelligence vessel has been directing lasers at Royal Air Force pilots, described as a “highly dangerous” action by government representatives.

This wider defence situation highlights the significance of robust measures and caution in all areas of official activities, from transport use to communication habits.
